Graduation weekend

graduation

Many people across the country spent the weekend graduating or going to graduations. Individuals were graduating with PhD‘s, Master’s, Bachelor’s, and more. It’s a great time of accomplishment but also a time of fear if you don’t know what’s coming.

Where to live? Where to work? Now what? Those are questions grads must face and answer. But, there is a deeper question you must answer first. Without proper direction, graduating will feel less of an accomplishment and more of a question mark.

The real question is then: “What is driving the direction I go?” Is it money? Is it power? Is it family or friends? Is it pride? Or, is it Jesus?

Although I wasn’t graduating, I still faced this question again this weekend. Doubts arose in my mind of whether I was making a mistake of going to Redding. I had to make sure God is leading me in the right direction not my own selfish desires. So, I spent Saturday fasting and praying for continued guidance and my prayers were answered.

The church we are going to is a recent church plant that has been stagnant for some time now. I got a text this weekend saying there were 15 new visitors at the church. This is exciting news! It is an answer to prayer. God strengthened my faith!

If you are struggling with following God I want to urge you to keep pushing forward and trust in Jesus. God has a plan for you and you must have faith in Him for it to succeed. Don’t focus on the little things and obstacles you can’t control. Instead, focus on today (Matt 6:34). Live this day for the Kingdom of God and He will add unto you all that you need.

  1. We live in a college town and I agree with you. It’s interesting how graduation affects us all if we stop to think about it. It’s a good time for self evaluation. Nice post.
